Horse Race Track Stable Visit Tour – BB03

Enjoy a one hour afternoon guided walk through the horse racing stables of an Adelaide racecourse as you experience the exciting world of the thoroughbred horse racing industry from beyond the barriers, encounter life on the track and meet the people who make it happen. Be picked up from your accommodation and driven to the Morphettville Racecourse. On arrival your guide will take you on a walk through the stables of different trainers, explaining the differences in stabling and answering any of your questions about the track and behind the scenes.

. Highlights include:
. Walk through the stables area.
. Visit the feed room and learn all the different types of feed and its effect on the horses, and how many times they are feed each day.
. See the gear room where your guide will explain all the different types of equipment used for horse racing and training.

. Operates:
. Monday to Saturday, 1430 to 1530.

. Pick up from Adelaide accommodation by arrangement.

Horse Race Track Stripping Stalls Tour – BB02

Discover the sport of kings behind the scenes on this 90 minute early morning tour of the racecourse stripping stalls. Experience the exciting world of the thoroughbred horse racing industry from beyond the barriers, encounter life on the track and meet the people who make it happen. Be picked up from your accommodation and driven to the Morphettville Racecourse. On arrival your guide will take you on a walk through the area, explaining what is happening and answering any of your questions about the track and behind the scenes.

. Watch the horses complete their track work from the trainers observation room.
. See the horses swimming in the swimming pool and learn about the benefits.
. Visit the farrier to see the horse shoes being prepared.
. Watch the horses in the sand roll and learn why they enjoy it.
. Visit the saddle shop where your guide will show and explain the many examples of saddles and equipment.
. Meet the trainers, jockeys and the strappers.

On arrival at Morphettville Racecourse your guide will take you on a walk through the many rooms and facilities that are part of the running of the racecourse on race day and answer any of your questions about the track, and behind the scenes.

. Highlights include:
. Visits to the jockeys room, stewards room, photographic finish tower, judges box, veterinary block and birdcage area. Your guide will explain each room visited and how it is used on race day.
. See a demonstration of the mechanical horse that jockeys use as part of their training.

. Operates:
. Monday to Friday (except on race days), departure times are negotiable on application.

Horse Race Track Half Day Tour – BB01

The sport of kings behind the scenes. Experience the exciting world of the thoroughbred horse racing industry from beyond the barriers, encounter life on the track and meet the people who make it all happen. Be picked up from your accommodation and driven to the Morphettville Racecourse. On arrival be greeted with a hot toddy drink, watch track work and meet the trainers, the jockeys, the strappers and the stars of the industry – some of Australia’s greatest thoroughbred horses. Enjoy a jockey’s breakfast of fresh coffee with bacon and egg sandwiches in the canteen, share stories with a few of Adelaide’s racing identities and maybe pick up a few hot tips. After breakfast take a walking tour of the stables, the swimming pool and the sand rolls. See the farriers at work and visit the veterinary clinic. Followed by a tour of the racecourse facilities to meet the stewards, the judges, the handicapper and the many other people who work beyond the barriers.
