Experiences in Tasmania

Found in the southernmost part of Australia, Tasmania, with its stunning temperate interior and its windswept coastline, is altogether different from a typical Australian holiday. The state capital Hobart is as intimate as they come, and a great place to enjoy experiences in Tasmania.

Take a boat from Peppermint Bay for a relaxing tour of the waterfront while you sample many of the city’s superb whites, which benefit from the colder climate and the unspoilt surrounding countryside. Hobart is a small city that feels like a breath of fresh air, with its four distinct seasons and intimate feel. Take a bike tour to see Tasmania’s little capital at a leisurely pace.

The windy channel that separates Tasmania from the mainland includes the Bass Strait Islands and the main King Island, a haven for food lovers thanks to its excellent locally-caught lobster and French-style cheese.

Back on the main island, the Bay of Fires is among the most popular places to enjoy Tasmania experiences, with its supreme sandy beaches and a range of outdoor pursuits on offer, from bird watching and fishing to surfing and camping.

From here, it’s only 10 minutes by road to the nearby town of St Helens. The highlight of any trip here is the scenic interior, which includes Cradle Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site with a deep blue lake, jagged peaks and idyllic walking trails. Many visitors to the island take cycling tours, which range from sedate to the more adventurous. Choose one that suits your fitness level and make the most of your Tasmanian experience.
