Southern Cross Sailing Adventures

Sail with the Whitsundays most experienced live-aboard fully crewed sailing company. Established in 1985, Southern Cross Sailing Adventures carry approximately 13,000 guests per year on two to six day sailing holidays. They cater mainly to international travellers with 92 per cent of their clients from overseas.

Their fleet has two divisions, Southern Cross Sailing is the Racing/Maxi Division and includes Ragamuffin 2 53 foot, Southern Cross 68 foot, Maxi Siska 78 foot, Maxi Boomerang 83 foot and Whitbread Maxi British Defender 83 foot. Australian Tall Ship Cruises offer moderate to deluxe cruises on Providence, a two masted 62 foot replica of the Gloucester schooners, the famous 104 year old Tall Ship, Solway Lass with an overall length of 127 foot or Whitsunday Magic, a Mediterranean style three masted Deluxe Schooner, 140 foot.

Each tour explores beautiful locations such as Whitehaven Beach, Blue Pearl Bay on Hayman Island, Mantaray Bay and Nara Inlet on Hook Island. Whitsunday Magic also cruises to the Outer Reef.

During the sailing tours guests can get involved and learn a few sailing basics, plus there is time to snorkel, scuba dive, swim on the fringing coral reefs, explore the beaches and islands.

Solway Lass Tall Ship Sailing

Australian Tall Ship Cruises – Explore the Whitsundays aboard this famous Tall Ship built in Holland in 1902. Solway Lass has an amazing history, serving in the world wars for both sides, and at different stages of her life has served in: Holland, Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Fiji and for ten years on Sydney Harbour, in the 1990’s Solway Lass was lovingly restored and today is in exceptional condition, with 11 air conditioned guest cabins and a licensed bar and saloon. Solway Lass has 11 sails and guests are welcome to help or just relax and take in the unspoilt Island views.

Two Day And Two Night Maxi Sailing Adventures

Join one of Southern Cross’ two day two night Maxi sailing tours around the Whitsunday Islands. Choose between Whitbread around the World Racing Maxi, British Defender, or Ocean Racing Maxi, Boomerang. Both vessels are 83 feett long by 20 feet wide. If you are up for a good time, and would like to meet other travelers, then this tour could be just for you.

Two Day And One Night Maxi Yacht Tour

If you are travelling on a budget, or have limited time, this two day one night sailing adventure aboard the Maxi Racing Yacht ‘Siska’ may be just for you.

Siska is 80 foot and was successful in winning the Sydney to Hobart race twice.

Siska has been extensively refitted to accommodate up to 22 guests and two crew in open plan accommodation. Double or single berths are available. There’s also a large saloon/dining area downstairs, plus a large fully shaded cockpit on deck.

Whitsunday Magic Deluxe Cruises Reef and Islands

Whitsunday Magic is a purpose built Mediterranean Style three masted Schooner offering three day/three night cruises to the Whitsundays.

Guests experience comfort and style on the Whitsunday’s largest and most unique live-aboard sailing vessel. Features include 18 air conditioned and ensuited guest cabins, formal dining room and bar, large aft shaded lunch/viewing deck, bow net to lay in, cabin top observation and sun deck with mattresses, glass bottom tender for coral and reef viewing, services of the Captain, chef and crew.

This tour is also available for six days and six nights and it’s also available to the Outer Reef.

Three Day And Two Night Maxi Sailing Adventures

Join one of Southern Cross’s three day two night Maxi Sailing Adventures aboard a very famous Ocean Racing Maxi Yacht. These yachts are maintained in exceptional condition and are still capable of winning Racing events. In 2001 the company won Queenslands longest ocean race on line honours and handicap, plus first place in the Whitsunday Fun Race for 2001, 2002 and 2004.

All of Southern Cross’s Maxis have been extensively modified downstairs to provide comfort for their guests. Interiors are open plan, with single bunks, and double berths. The doubles have curtains for privacy. Dining areas are also provided downstairs.
