Fremantle Colonial Accommodation, Fremantle

Our accommodation service in Fremantle, Western Australia operates as four self-contained cottages, a villa and a two storey terrace house, which contains two ensuite rooms and two self-contained apartments. The variety of accommodation provided is unique in that it encapsulates a great deal of Fremantle History.

The cottages are situated in the grounds of the old Fremantle Convict Prison and were built from stone quarried on site by the convicts in 1857, to be used as accommodation for the wardens of the prison. In 1994 the cottages were competely stripped back to their original condition, and renovated in such a way that preserved their colonial feature. We have furnished them in colonial style with Western Australian antique furniture from the period. Several modern luxuries have been added, with each cottage fully equipped with televisions, videos, microwaves, laundry facilities, modern kitchens and bathrooms with full length baths. One cottage is also fitted with facilities for the disabled.

We also have another heritage cottage located in Fothergill Street, which is considerably larger than the prison cottages but also furnished with antiques, has off street parking for two cars and air-conditioning, making it ideal for corporate accommodation and long term bookings. A two bedroom townhouse in Stirling Street completes our self contained accommodation. The villa has all the same facilities as the cottages but more modern appointments and is also ideal for long term or corporate bookings in a more modern price range. It has been tastefully decorated and also has off street parking with the same central location.

The apartments and ensuite rooms are situated in an old two storey terrace house 300 metres from the Fremantle Town Hall. Built by convicts in 1896 to accommodate gold rush settlers, the house has two ensuite rooms and two self-contained apartments. As with the cottages, the house has been completely renovated in the colonial style and furnished accordingly. Guests are offered the luxuries of remote control television, fridges and tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms and apartments. Additional features include guest lounge, complete with video library, laundry facilities, air-conditioning throughout and off-street parking. We serve a large continental breakfast in the ensuite rooms and provide a breakfast hamper for your arrival in the apartments.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
