Great Green Way Eco Tours and Fire Stick Tours, The
Guided by Aboriginal Ethno botanist Warren Whitfield, the tours will operate on beautiful Magnetic Island situated eight kilometres from the Townsville coast. Access to the Island is by ferry which operates 15 times daily. Clients will be taken on an adventure experience they never thought possible on Magnetic Island.
The ancestral home of the Wulgurukaba people, once part of the mainland Magnetic Island became isolated from the coast when the sea level rose about 10,000 years ago flooding the low lying woodland between Townsville and the island, as a result a unique and diverse suite of plants and animals have evolved with some species though to be endemic.
There are 23 beautiful beaches around the island, many of which are not usually frequented by tourists or even locals due to their relative inaccessibility to all but the adventurous. Clients will visit Horseshoe Bay, Alma Bay, Geoffrey Bay, Nelly Bay, Picnic Bay and Cockle Bay. They will see wallabies, a wonderful array of birdlife and maybe even a koala. Customers will experience detailed and informative commentary and demonstrations with lots of client participation, Aboriginal culture, bush foods, medicines and traditional fire making.
Morning tea or afternoon tea will be provided. The tours will be conducted in a relaxed and unrushed atmosphere with customer comfort and satisfaction as prime objectives.
