An estuary flanks the 5-acre property of tropical gardens and the pristine and deserted beach is within easy walking distance through the neighbouring National Park. Bottlenose dolphins and migrating hump back whales are regularly seen from the beach and adjoining headlands. The estuary – teeming with a great variety of fish – beach and adjoining sea are part of the diverse Solitary Islands Marine Park. The Marine Park was established to protect the fragile environment created by cool southern currents and warm northern ones, which meet here. The result is a unique marine life comprised of coldwater pelagic fish mingling with tropical ones in some of the most southern coral reefs.

Nestled at the foot of the Great Dividing Range in one of only two locations where the mountains extend right down to the sea, Coffs Harbour is found on the beautiful north coast of New South Wales. Too far north for cold winters and too far south for a rainy season, it enjoys Australia’s most temperate climate. The home of The Waterside on Tiki Road is a small lane 500 meters south of Coffs Harbour Zoo leading east to the sea. The zoo is approximately 12 km north of the town centre on the Pacific Highway.
