Historic Overland Corner Hotel, Overland Corner

Built in 1859 by the Brand brothers, this hotel takes you back in time with its 18-inch thick walls, 10-foot ceilings, remarkable layout and workmanship. Two small rooms located at the end of the quaint dining room give you an insight as to how simple life was back in the 1800’s. Huge fireplaces take prime position in both the dining room and the bar area creating the perfect atmosphere to indulge in a bottle of local wine.

For walking enthusiasts there is a walking trail which takes you past the limestone quarry where stone was removed to build the hotel, past the cemetery and up the hill to copper and ochre mines. From this point you can marvel at the spectacular view of the wetlands and Murray River and maybe catch a glimpse of a paddle steamer or houseboat navigating its way along the Murray River where once this was a thriving and bustling colony.
