Cedar Glen Farmstay, Beaudesert
Nestled in the foothills of the spectacular Lost World section of Lamington National Park, this is the perfect country retreat. The Stephens family has worked the property for over 100 years and it’s steeped in history and family tradition. The 420 hectare farm carries 300 to 400 beef cattle and sugar cane and breeds Arabian horses, some of which are used for cattle mustering and horse riding for farmstay guests. Farm activities, including cow-milking, egg-collecting and feeding poultry, peacocks and pigs, are always popular with children and there is usually a pet kangaroo in residence. Full board guests can enjoy country-style meals and picnics, including home-baked bread, organic vegetables, free range eggs and the farm’s own beef and dairy produce.
This family homestead is a traditional old Queensland house of timber construction and was built in 1901. It has spacious rooms with high ceilings, wide verandahs and antique furniture and an open fireplace in the sitting room, where guests can relax before and after dinner.
The Stinson Cottage, so named because it looks onto the area of the famous plane crash in 1937, is a one hundred year old fully restored workers’ cottage with breathtaking views of the mountains. It can be used for self catering or guests can stay on a full board basis and come into the homestead for all meals.
The Dairy House is used mainly for self catering and was built in 1949 and is suitable for two families. Tantallon, a large family homestead built in 1932, is situated one kilometre from the main homestead and is suitable for three families for self catering and has a large open fireplace for winter warmth.
Guests staying at Cedar Glen Farmstay can engage in farm activities, tennis, bushwalking, bird watching or simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
