Lake Innes is a large coastal lake about ten kilometres south-west of Port Macquarie, protected with its surrounding wetlands and forest in Lake Innes Nature Reserve. The name is also used for the suburb growing on its northern side.

Things To Do in Lake Innes

Major Archibald Innes built a mansion, stables and a home farm here in the 1830s with convict labour, and for a time it was the grandest house north of Sydney. The brick ruins are fragile and can be seen only on guided tours run by the national parks service on set days; book ahead. The lake itself has little public access, though tracks in the reserve are used by walkers and cyclists.

Where To Stay

There is no accommodation at the lake. Port Macquarie and Lake Cathie are both close.

Eat & Drink

A vineyard with a cafe is nearby, and Port Macquarie has everything else.

Getting to Lake Innes

The reserve is reached from the Oxley Highway and from Ocean Drive, south of Port Macquarie.
