Touring Options
Kangaroo Island In Style Two Day Tour – ACIS21
Travel to Kangaroo Island and let our enthusiastic local guides show you our unique island whilst experiencing good food, wine and wildlife in the wild. Stay overnight in the best available accommodation including dinner and breakfast, then continue with your second day of touring prior to returning to Adelaide in the evening.
. Day One – Island Life day tour – You will be met by your guide for basic orientation before departing on the tour in an air conditioned four wheel drive vehicle. Explore a red gum forest in the Cygnet River valley – seek out koalas sleeping in the forks of trees. Travel through some of the island’s best farming country to the North Coast and Lathami Conservation Park. Take a walk through the habitat of Kangaroo Island kangaroos, tammar wallabies and endangered glossy black cockatoos. Break for lunch and enjoy a delicious meal featuring local seafood, fresh salads and fine South Australian wines at a private bush location. At Seal Bay Conservation Park walk with your guide amongst Australian sea lions on a beautiful sandy beach. Watch pups nursing or playing in the surf, see old bulls scarred by territorial fights and learn of their unique breeding biology. The remainder of the afternoon is spent exploring more of the south-east region of the island with destinations and experiences chosen to reflect seasonal opportunities. At the conclusion of the tour transfer to your accommodation for dinner, bed and breakfast.
. Day Two – Flinders Chase Focus day tour – After breakfast depart for your second day of touring. Flinders Chase National Park, a vast wilderness covering the western end of the island, is home to kangaroos, wallabies, possums, goannas, echidnas, koalas, platypus and many birds including rare Cape Barren geese. Visit Rocky River, site of an impressive visitor centre interpreting many facets of the park and its history. At Cape du Couedic visit a fur seal colony, which now numbers over 20,000 after being decimated by hunting in the early 1800’s. These animals can be observed resting on the rocks or frolicking in the surf under Admiral’s Arch, a spectacular grotto. Visit an historic lighthouse where three families provided an important navigation service, which is now automated. Along the coast explore Remarkable Rocks, huge natural sculptures on the cliff top. Good wines and local produce features highly in our picnic lunch, which we enjoy in the bush before exploring more of the island. Depending upon season the afternoon might include a visit to ‘Grassdale’ in the heart of Kelly Hill Conservation Park, the secluded pools of Rocky River or a visit to a rugged South Coast cove. At the conclusion of the tour transfer to Kingscote Airport to connect with return flight to Adelaide (flight optional).
