Snowy River Horseback Adventure

Snowy River Horseback Adventure takes small groups (12 maximum) on 2, 3 and 5-day horse riding treks through the most picturesque Snowy Mountains high country. This horseback holiday successfully combines adventure with comfort. Instead of sleeping out at night, riders stay at a comfortable (commercial)
mountain chalet, with lots of atmosphere, in beautiful bushland, mountain and lake front settings. At the end of each exhilarating day in the saddle there are hot showers to recuperate, country hospitality and excellent three course meals to enjoy, followed by cosy evening around the log fireplaces. It you’ve always dreamt of riding the ‘Man from Snowy River Country’ prefer not to rough it too much, then this horseback adventure is for you!

Experienced guides take riders along the bush trails, old stock routes, fire and brumby trails, winding through forests of majestic snow gums and mountain ash. The journey meanders through the pristine and unique high country, on the southern side of Jindabyne, adjacent to Kosciusko NP, trails follow along crystal clear streams, then climb up to peaks with magnificent views of ranges, valleys and lakes. Canter along the open plains surrounded by impressive mountains in the blue haze, then, wind your way through the bush on tracks used by the brumbies. An average distance of approximately thirty kilometres a day is covered. This very scenic part of the Australian Alps housed a large variety of wildlife, such as emus, kangaroos, wombats, an abundance of bird life including eagles, as well as herds of brumbies and deer. You’ll come across numerous reminders of the past old cattlemen’s huts, remains of the gold mining and pioneer days.

This horseback adventure is priced all-inclusive: quality horses and riding equipment, Oil Coat, all meals (served with wine), soft drinks, all accommodation, luggage transportation.

We operate from ‘Homestead Chalet’, a lovely Chalet, featuring seven guestrooms, some with private ensuite bathroom. ‘Homestead Chalet’ is about twenty minutes driving south of Jindabyne.
