‘Sheoak Escape’ is a Mud Batt Cottage built in 1941 for Henry and Ruth Haggerty to live in after their marriage in April 1942.

It is a self contained cottage with all the modern conveniences, situated 25 kilometres from Kojonup at Jingalup on the road to Frankland, in the middle of a working farm with lovely views across the valley. An ideal place to retreat to from the stresses of life. A place where you can see the stars at night, and wake up to the birds singing and early morning mists in winter. A great place to take long walks through the farmland and the natural bushlands, or to just relax on the front verandah and watch the birds in the garden or the farm animals, or on a cold day snuggle up in the front of the open fire.

In summer you may like to cool off in the swimming pool. In season there are wildflowers to see in the reserve next door, alongside the nine hole golf course and tennis courts. The farm backs onto the Wandecla Race Course and Polo Crosse grounds, famous for their Australia Day Races on the 26 January each year.

‘Sheoak Escape’ is named after the paddock it is situated in, and the owners have tried to use some Sheoak wood throughout. As a keen craftsperson, the owner also has a selection of different crafts for sale on the farm when you visit.

The accommodation is far enough away from Perth for you to completely relax, and close enough to the Vineyards in Frankland River and Mount Barker to enjoy some wine tasting. Things to see in Kojonup include The Kodja Place Interpretive Centre and Rose Maze. These are both very different from anything else in Western Australia. It is also an easy drive to many places worth seeing, such as the Porongurups, the Stirling Ranges, Albany, the Tree Top Walk in Denmark and Bridgetown.
