Rawdon Vale Cottage is the perfect starting point to discover the natural beauty of the surrounding district. One of the closest cottages to the Barrington and Gloucester Tops, only 30 minutes by vehicle separates you from some of the spectacular views, magic bush walks through ancient Antarctic Beech forests and stunning waterfalls – everything the World Heritage Listed Barrington Tops are famed for.
Take advantage of the cottage’s idyllic position on the banks of the Kerripit River and enjoy a dip in the natural stone pool – just a minute’s walk from the garden gate. For those of you who love a challenge, canoeing, fishing and horse riding are also within easy reach.
Perhaps you feel like relaxing and enjoying the simple pleasures of pure mountain water, clean air and the sounds of the land. Rawdon Vale, an established Hereford cattle property since 1845 with an historic stone homestead and other National Trust homes nearby, is one of the earliest settlements in the district. Tours of the homestead can be arranged upon request.
For something a little different, Rawdon Vale Cottage currently has a small art exhibition on display. Artist, Sandy Gray, who regularly visits, paints some lovely landscapes of the surrounding area and some wonderful abstract paintings as well. All her paintings are for sale and can be viewed in the cottage.
The cottage has 3 bedrooms beautifully furnished with antiques and wrought iron beds. The sitting room boasts an open fire, perfect to curl up in front of whilst reading a book, watching a video, or listening to your favourite CD.
