Old Picture Theatre Apartments, Pemberton

Stay in our magnificently restored heritage building, originally constructed as a picture theatre in 1929, and now converted into luxury, self-contained accommodation.

Only recently opened in April 1999 and located in the centre of town, the timber picture theatre is the only one remaining in Western Australia and its restoration has created a great deal of interest both locally and overseas.

Admire the original polished jarrah floor boards, stained glass doors, jarrah wash stands, timber dados, period skirting boards, high ceilings, decorative cornices and ceiling roses of a past era, while enjoying the convenience of modern appointments such as reverse-cycle air conditioning, television, video recorder, microwave oven and Internet/E-mail access.

Each apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized fridge and gas hot plates and dishwasher, extensive living areas, dining area and a large bathroom (approximately 70 square metres total area). The high standards of furniture and fittings add to the atmosphere of luxury and quality. The kitchen cupboards are solid jarrah and the bedrooms feature queen size brass beds with orthopaedic mattresses and crisp white sheets. The apartments are fully equipped for self catering with ample cooking utensils and quality cutlery, crockery and glassware.

The apartments have access to a huge indoor spa and barbeque area, and a guest laundry. In the Royal Automobile Club Assessor’s written report he described the apartments as ‘spectacular’ and ‘wonderful’.

We do not cater for children under 12 years of age, and smoking is not permitted inside the buildings. All our facilities are on the one level and can be accessed by wheelchair or walking frame. Having been constructed within a building which was originally a picture theatre each of our apartments is quite distinctive. Choose from a range of one to three bedroom apartments – The Projection Room, The Lounge, The Dress Circle, The Stage, and Adyar Cottage.
