McPhersons Plains Alpine Retreat & Caravan Park, Tumbarumba

The retreat is situated on 106 acres of sub-alpine forest on the Bago Range, sharing boundaries with Kosciuszko National Park and State Forest. With activities all year round.

Retreat from the heat for our cool summers and snowy winters to enjoy many activities in the area.

This is the true high country experience the way the mountain men would have lived. Enjoy the colonial style buildings and good value home-style cooking in the restaurant at the Retreat.

Enjoy the surrounding tracks – great for 4WD, horse riding, bush walkers and bird watchers. Take in the local history at the Boggy Creek Show and enjoy what the mountains have to offer.

Christmas in the Snow
Enjoy a festive traditional dinner with turkey, plum pudding and all the trimmings while the snow is fall outside. Open to groups of 25 – 50 people.

Family Restaurant
A cosy Australian country restaurant providing hearty meals at an affordable price. Sit around the open fire and toast marshmallows. Play a game or read a book from the library. Check out the display of arts & crafts from local artists. Available for functions of up to 50 people and open all year round for staying guests. Bookings essential, BYO Alcohol.

Creative Camps
Experience a weekend of relaxation and inspiration. Artist retreats and craft camps are held regularly and cater for a wide variety of interests and levels of experience. Whether you want to take part in hands on tuition or simply need a weekend away to devote to an unfinished object you’ve been working on. Catering for groups and individuals.

Dogs & Horses Welcome
Bring your own horses and enjoy riding though the surrounding alpine forest. Solid yards and wash down supplied at small charge. Dogs are welcome to stay as long as they are kept under control and not inside any of the buildings

Caravan & Tent Sites
Experience the feeling of camping in the bush but have the convience of hot showers, laundry and BBQ facilities. Powered and unpowered sites large enough for any size tent or caravan. Bread, milk and kiosk available at the restaurant.

Guest Rooms

Twelve comfortable centrally heated rooms sleeping four in each comprising of double and bunk beds. All come with linen, towels and winter weight doonas. Shared bathroom facilities conveniently located. Access to tea/coffee, toaster, fridge, BBQ, book and games library, as well as sports equipment at the restaurant. Meals can be fully catered to leave time for yourself. Parking just outside the room

SELF CONTAINED LODGE

Snowgum Lodge

The perfect getaway for small groups and families. Sleeps up to ten people comfortably, with all linen, towels and winter weight doonas provided. Large kitchen, lounge/dining and disabled access bathroom. Wood fired heating, perfect to sit around and relax on cold snowy days. Parking only metres from the front door.
