Elizabeth Leighton B & B, Buronga

Experience gracious living at its serene best, in a new home, tastefully decorated and surrounded by extensive gardens. A separate suite in our home, accommodating up to 4 people in 2 double bedrooms becomes your private haven during your visit to the diverse region of Mildura and the Murray Outback. As you make your way down our long driveway, the tall trees part to reveal our two-storey home on the edge of a tranquil billabong. Tea, coffee and homemade biscuits await you, also fruit, cheese, nuts, sweet & savoury biscuits, cold water and wine. Relax on an upstairs verandah and delight in picturesque views of the Murray River, as you sip some of this district’s award winning wines. Meander through the gardens or enjoy a riverside walk. In winter the sunroom is delightfully warm and overlooks the large garden enclosed by tall trees. Waterbirds, including wood ducks, black ducks, teal, cranes, cormorants, pelicans and waterfowl are a special feature of our peaceful lifestyle. Be pampered with an indulgent breakfast, beautifully presented and served in the sunroom or on the verandah. Enjoy the traditional favourite of eggs, bacon and tomatoes, or tantalise your tastebuds with something more exotic such as thinly sliced fillet steak on a bed of spinach, served with creamy lemon sauce and a croissant. Bread and jams are homemade and the orange juice is freshly squeezed. You’ll find many excellent restaurants a few minutes away where you can dine at night, including Stephano’s Cantina, as seen on Gondola on the Murray. * Other features: Private bathroom, air conditioning, gas heating, TV, tea/coffee making facility, homemade biscuits, fresh fruit, nuts, dry biscuits, cheese, wine. * Comfortable double bed suitable for back problems, electric blanket, quiet location, privacy, soft colours, temperature-controlled, peaceful view of Murray River scenery from bedroom window.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
