Cape Schanck Lighthouse, Cape Schanck

ACCOMMODATION Make the Cape Schanck Lightstation your base whilst you discover the Mornington Peninsula. On the lightstation grounds are three cottages and the separate inspectors room with ensuite no cooking. (Two one bedroom and two three bedroom with two queen size beds) Maximum accommodation on-site is 22 persons. All cottages have been residences of the Lighthouse Keepers. Breakfast is supplied if required. The old stables can be used for group meals and communal activities. TOURS Cape Schanck Lightstation (with fully functioning beacon) offers visitors a unique glimpse of the past. The historic light is one of the few still operating as it did during the early 1800’s. The Lightstation is open every day of the year for tours up the lighthouse or in the museum. LIGHTKEEPERS BASKET Lunch or dinner with local produce can be supplied for a picnic. EVENING BARBECUES During the summer months groups can have an evening meal served in the old carriage stables. At dusk climb the lighthouse stairs and view the magnificent sunset. ACTIVITIES When your settled in, you might like to take the boardwalk for breathtaking ocean views. Explore the secret places at Cape Schanck, or unwind with a glass of wine while the sun disappears. The following morning pack a picnic lunch and head off to Bushrangers Bay. While you’re enjoying the tranquillity of this special place you may see kangaroos in the hills, or see a Great Southern Right Whale surface to say hello along with the seals and dolphins. A walk to Fingal Beach taking in some magical views, or if you have more energy, you can also walk the cliff tops to Gunamatta Surf Beach. You can go rock climbing, try surf fishing, or perhaps go diving or snorkelling where you might discover the sunken submarine.
