Wardell is located approximately 17 kilometres south of Ballina, where the Pacific Highway crosses the Richmond River. The village is the smallest urban centre in the Shire with an approximate population of 500 people. Wardell has a number of historic buildings listed including the Royal Hotel, the former National Bank & the Catholic Church.
