Charlestown is located 12kms south of Newcastle, and is a key town centre at the northern end of Lake Macquarie.
Charlestown is easily accessible, with the Pacific Highway running through the town. Charlestown has plenty of public transport to commute tourists and offers movie theatres, major department stores and many fine restaurants.
