OceanXplorer – Boat Camp

Boat Camp, a new concept in marine adventure live-aboard programs is set in the sub-tropical paradise of Moreton Bay, a massive marine park of some 365 islands just off Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Proudly created by OceanXplorer Pty Ltd, Boat Camp will be launching for the first time in Semester Two from Victoria Point.

MV Supersport, the 25 metre, three level, Boat Camp headquarters, offers a “floating classroom” plus accommodation for small groups of up to 36, as well as a multi-purpose water sports deck, providing access to state-of-the-art kayaks, sailing dinghies and snorkelling with fully qualified instructors.

On-board, you will “camp out in comfort”, with a range of single and shared cabins, fully inclusive of linen and towels. All meals are provided, starting each day with a good healthy breakfast. Other on-board features include seating for up to 42 people in an open-space saloon, audio-visual equipment, a marine library, alfresco dining deck with boardroom style table and barbecue, and a large sundeck.

A unique feature of Boat Camp – which offers day excursions for up to 150 people and minimum three day / two night live-aboard packages – is the provision of the OceanXplorer Learning Resource Kit. It features learning modules for Years Seven to 10 specially developed in consultation with teachers to support curriculum requirements of the Queensland Marine Studies Syllabus.

The benefits of experiencing Boat Camp run far deeper than simply having loads of good old-fashioned fun in the great outdoors! The spin offs are a healthy respect for the natural environment, a great sense of pride and achievement through learning new skills and the development of a spirit of camaraderie, that students will hopefully carry with them throughout life.
