Castle Mountain Farmstay, Quirindi
Comfortable accommodation, home cooked meals, country life experience $42 per person. Castle Mountain is a 2000 acre sheep and cattle property situated in the North West Slopes and Plains of New South Wales. The Highest point in the district is Castle Mountain at 757 metres and is located in the centre of the property. The Mountain is surrounded by hills covered in Australian natural bush and contains many species of native birds and animals. The western side of Castle Mountain has a 70 metre high escarpment giving spectacular views over the Liverpool Plains and distant mountain ranges.
Peter and Lynda Hatfield run fine wool merino sheep and beef cattle on the property and have developed the Farmstay through meeting international travellers and the WWOOF organisation members. In aiming at the budget minded backpacker market they have found that what they offer at Castle Mountain is very attractive to the Australian family seeking a country experience at an affordable price. The pole-framed stone homestead is owner-built and uses timber and stone from the property. It is powerd by solar and wind. Home cooked meals are supplied and served in the homestead with the Hatfields.
