Skillogalee House, Sevenhill

Skillogalee House is a spacious stone farmhouse dating back to the early 1900’s. It has been tastefully restored and renovated to create indulgent and luxurious self-catering bed and breakfast accommodation for up to six people. Set in the heart of the picturesque Clare Valley, Skillogalee House is surrounded by established gardens in a working vineyard of 30 hectares. The property itself is set in the rolling wooded hills just east of the Spring Gully Conservation Park.

There are two king sized bedrooms and one queen size bedroom and a stunning bathroom that features a freestanding Kaldewei bath, under floor heating and a heated towel rail. One of the king size rooms also has an ensuite with shower. The house has reverse cycle air conditioning throughout and there is a laundry for guests use.

In the centre of the house is a large, comfortable, slate floored sitting room with an open wood fire, television, video, DVD player, books, magazines and games. The open plan, fully equipped kitchen/dining room also features two sittings areas and opens on to a large covered outdoor area with a teak setting for eight and a large gas barbecue. This western facing aspect of the house overlooks a huge dam and undulating vineyards to the bushland beyond. Generous provisions for hearty cooked breakfast are standard and award winning wine from Skillogalee is provided for guests to enjoy. The kitchen has a quality gas hob and electric oven, a dishwasher and microwave, a good set of chef’s knives and a full complement of pans – so that guests can, if they wish, cook up a storm.

For those that cannot leave work behind, or like to be constantly in touch via cyberspace, there is an office with a flat screen computer, printer and complimentary internet access. There is also a sofa bed and a second television and video in the office.

If the comforts of the house proved to be so attractive you do not want to leave, guests can arrange to collect an ‘almost ready’ gourmet meal from the Skillogalee Restaurant, a couple of hundred metres away. A basket of dishes is supplied, complete with do it yourself instructions, ready to be given the finishing touches when the guests want to have dinner. Skillogalee Winery and Restaurant is open everyday for wine tasting and sales, morning and afternoon teas and of course, for lunch.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
