Geralka Rural Farm Unit, Spalding

Geralka Rural Farm is located in the heart of South Australia’s mid north region, which is renowned for its rural heritage, mining history, scenic beauty, merino sheep studs and broadacre farming enterprises. A two hour drive, 160 kilometres north of Adelaide, the farm lies just to the north of the famous Clare Valley wine region.

Geralka is a commercial farm producing cereals, grain legumes and merino wool. In 1972 a section of the farm was established and opened to visitors and conducts guided tours promoting the farm itself and features of the region. A large visitor centre has been established and incorporates a reception area and office, displays, shop and catering hall. Guided tours are conducted providing a fun, hands-on, educational experience. These tours promote what the farm does, assisted by a display of products grown and how a modern business farm works. Tours also include a presentation of farming from the past, with a display of over 300 old vintage farm machines and vehicles displayed in historic buildings, feeding and patting Clydesdale horses in their stables, having a wagon ride, Shetland pony ride for the children and farm yard animals. Group tours and visitors are welcome by prior arrangement and we especially welcome social clubs, school groups and special interest groups. A catered meal for visiting groups can be provided by prior arrangement.

A caravan camping park with 240 volt power, lawn sites and amenities with hot showers and toilets allow visitors to stay with a country atmosphere with scenic rural views. A self contained unit and two on-site vans are also available. All cooking and eating utensils are supplied as are mattresses and pillows. Guests need to bring their own linen, blankets and food. There is a three kilometre specially constructed walking track and a children’s playground for visitors added enjoyment.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
