A visit to Coonawarra, one of Australia’s most famous wine districts will allow you to taste award winning wines from a selection of strikingly individual cellar door outlets. For rose lovers a visit to Balnaves Winery will allow you to make up your own wish list. This unique cellar door overlooks a trout filled pond and specialises in dry red and dry white wines.

. Rymill Coonawarra ensures a memorable visitor experience. The striking modern three storey Limestone building, complemented by bronze stallion statues, features an elevated viewing platform offering a panoramic view of the district. More than a century old, Wynns Coonawarra Estate Winery is steeped in Scottish heritage and is the region’s largest single vineyard holder.

. Alongside Wynns is DiGiorgio Family Wines, where you will be taken on a fascinating tour of the second oldest winery in the district before sampling their award winning premium wines. Hollick Wines is the final port of call offering a tantalising array of white wines too often overlooked in the rush to sample the delicious fruited Ravenswood Cabernet Sauvignon.

Fossil and Wine 3 Day Tour – LC02

Explore and enjoy the delights of South Australia’s Limestone Coast on a fully escorted three days and two nights tour. Highlights include the Padthaway Wine Region, the World Heritage Naracoorte Caves area, the Coonawarra Wine Region and the Coorong National Park.

. Day One – Pick up from airport or accommodation. Travel to Padthaway Wine Region for lunch and wine tastings at Padthaway Estate and Stonehaven. Continue on to Orlando’s Russet Ridge Winery at Wrattonbully. Overnight stay at Naracoorte.

. Day Two – Leave accommodation for World Heritage Naracoorte Caves area, exploring the Victoria Fossil Cave with its beautiful formations and view the amazing mega fauna in the Wonambi Fossil Centre. A unique visitor experience is the Victoria Fossil Cave with its beautiful formations and silt fossil bed of amazing diversity. Experience Naracoorte as it was 200,000 years ago with a visit to the Wonambi Fossil Centre.

. A short distance away is the Yulgilbar Wood Gallery where you can browse through the aged red gum tables, bowls and other fine woodcarving and the wetland of international importance, Bool Lagoon. This bird lovers and photographers paradise contains one of the largest and most diverse freshwater lagoon systems in South Australia.

. Take a trip to Bourne’s Bird Museum where you can see South Australia’s largest and most diverse private collection of native birds. Visit Mini Jumbuck, whose products are becoming increasingly famous. View the manufacturing process and take advantage of their factory direct prices.

Fossil and Wine 5 Day Tour – LC01

Explore and enjoy the delights of South Australia’s Limestone Coast on a fully escorted five days and for night tour. Highlights include the Great Ocean Road, the ancient landscapes and volcanic rises of Mount Gambier and the Blue Lake, the famous wine district of Coonawarra and the World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves.

. Day One – Melbourne – Warrnambool – Port Fairy. Travelling between Melbourne and Adelaide along the Great Ocean Road you will be in awe of the curving coastline views that include the famous Twelve Apostles. Continuing west enjoy Warrnambool before following the coast further to Port Fairy for the evening. You may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a Southern Right Whale during your journey. Overnight accommodation at Port Fairy.

. Day Two – Port Fairy – Mount Gambier. Leaving the rugged coastlines behind, venture into the ancient landscapes and volcanic rises of Mount Gambier and the Blue Lake. Indulge in a stroll of the Valley Lakes. Your day concludes with a visit to the Lady Nelson Visitor and Discovery Centre. A short drive from Mount Gambier is your accommodation in Coonawarra. . Day Three – Penola – Coonawarra. In Penola you will have the opportunity to wander at your leisure and discover this historic town. . Day Four – Coonawarra – Naracoorte. Visit the amazing World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves, exploring the Victoria Fossil Cave with its beautiful formations and silt fossil beds. Discover the amazing ice age giants of Australia’s past, the mega fauna, as revealed by the fossils and view the models recreated from the bones found in the Victoria Fossil Cave. One of only a few fossil sites in the world, Naracoorte Cave is a real treasure in South Australia. Overnight accommodation in Naracoorte.

. Day Five – Naracoorte – Adelaide. Take a tour of the Mini Jumbuck Factory and view the manufacture of their famous woollen products, then depart the Limestone Coast to reach your destination of Adelaide, the city of food and wine.
