The Great Carpentaria Experience Tours is an incredible journey that will delight photographers, railway enthusiasts, plant and bird lovers and those interested in the geography and history of the Cairns and Carpentaria regions.

Some highlights include: Savannahlander, Gulflander, Karumba, Undara, Cobbold Gorge and Burke & Wills Camp #119.

They specialise their tour operations around the Cairns region and the Gulf of Carpentaria. During the year between April and October (weather and road conditions permitting) they operate small groups, Scheduled and Chartered Tours between Cairns and the Gulf of Carpentaria. During other months of the year they operate Chartered Tours around the Cairns region, Atherton Tablelands, Cooktown and Mission Beach regions.

Different tour options are available that will enhance your tour to suite your own personal enjoyment and should not impact on the main tour content.

Touring Options

Six Day Carpentaria Experience – departing Sundays

Your journey through the Gulf Savannah and Gulf of Carpentaria Region is highlighted with a range of exciting activities including: the fascinating Undara Lava Tubes, exploring the history surrounding different eras of the outback, a Barramundi Farm, beautiful sun sets, the famous Gulflander Train, Cobbold Gorge and the Savannahlander Train.

The vast destinations visited include the Atherton Tablelands, Tarzali, Georgetown, Croydon, Normanton, Karumba, Einasleigh and Forsyth.

Choosing one, two or all three of the different options available allows you to enhance your tour to suit your own personal enjoyment and should not impact on the main tour content.

Six Day Carpentaria Experience – Alternate Tour – departing Wednesdays

Your journey through the Gulf Savannah and Gulf of Carpentaria Region is highlighted with a range of exciting activities including: the Savannahlander Train, Chillagoe Caves, exploring history, Barramundi farm, an optional scenic flight, Sunset tour, the Gulflander Train, Cobbold Gorge and the fascinating Undara Lava Tubes.

The vast destinations visited include the Atherton Tablelands, Mutchilba, Almaden, Chillagoe, Mount Surprise, Georgetown, Croydon, Normanton, Karumba and Forsyth.

The optional Scenic flight on day three allows you to enhance your tour to suit your own personal enjoyment and is recommended that be booked whilst making the original booking.
