Darch, WA

Darch is a suburban area situated in Perth, Western Australia, and falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Wanneroo. Located approximately 17 kilometers (about 11 miles) to the north of Perth’s central business district, Darch was once a part of the neighboring suburb of Landsdale. Historically, the area was predominantly rural, maintaining its bucolic charm until the late 1990s.

The suburb derives its name from an early family of settlers who were among the pioneers in the region. Officially, the name “Darch” was approved in 1997, serving as a tribute to the contributions of this family to the local community.

In the early 21st century, particularly starting from 2001, Darch underwent significant transformation. It became a focal point for residential development as part of the broader East Wanneroo Development Area, specifically within a sector known as Cell 6. This development initiative led to a surge in housing projects, transforming the once-rural landscape into a bustling suburban community.

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
