Oscar’s Outback Tours travels in a purpose built, 21 passenger, four wheel drive, air conditioned Mercedes coach with panoramic windows, which allow uninterrupted views of the spectacular countryside.

Discover the wonders of Australia’s Outback. All 2006 tours depart from Adelaide and destinations include the Great Ocean Road, Kangaroo Island, The Grampians, Mildura and Lake Mungo, The Gawler Ranges, Flinders Ranges, Outback Spectacular, Strzelecki Track and Outback New South Wales, The Oodnadatta Track, Back o’ Burke and Beyond and Arkaroola.

Back o’ Burke and Beyond Eleven Day Tour – OOT08

If you haven’t been to Bourke then this is the tour for you. We travel via Hawker and Marree to Birdsville where we stay at the famous pub. We visit the amazing "Working Museum" and Big Red on the edge of the Simpson Desert. We then travel across Channel Country to Windorah and Longreach. Here we visit two more famous museums – Qantas Founders Memorial and the Stockman’s Hall of Fame. We take a cruise on the Thomson River and enjoy dinner along the way. We travel south through Charleville where Cobb and Co used to build coaches for the outback because the timber from coastal regions would dry and split. Then on to Bourke where we see the wharf from where in the past up to 40,000 bales of wool were loaded annually for their long river trip to Goolwa at the mouth of the Murray. Our last night is spent at Broken Hill, then to Adelaide via the Barrier Highway.

Outback Spectacular 12 Day Tour – OOT09

The tour of a lifetime crosses the paths of John McDougall Stuart, Burke and Wills and Charles Sturt. Travel on the Oodnadatta, Birdsville and Strzelecki Tracks. Visit Roxby Downs, Andamooka, Marree, Birdsville, Innamincka, Tibooburra and Broken Hill. Stop on the shores of Lake Eyre South, climb Big Red in the Simpson Desert and take a cruise on the Cooper Creek. Hear the story of Burke and Wills and visit their sites. This tour takes us to many spectacular and remote places in the outback. Don’t miss this one!

The Grampians and Whimpey’s Mallee Fowl Santuary Five Day Tour – OOT01

Whimpey’s Mallee Fowl Sanctuary is our first nights stop. See some of our endangered birds and marsupials and enjoy the tranquillity of this bush retreat. We travel into the beautiful and spectacular Grampians where we spend the next three nights. Staying at the park-like Grampians Motel we make day trips into the rugged mountains and to the surrounding district. On our way home we stop off at Tom Mulraney’s farm and travel back in time as he proudly shows us his majestic Clydesdale horses.

Strzelecki and Outback New South Wales Ten Day Tour – OOT06

This tour follows the Strzelecki Track, made famous by Captain Starlight, travelling its full length from Lyndhurst in the Northern Flinders Ranges to Innamincka on the Cooper Creek. At Innamincka we take a boat cruise along the Cooper Creek and hear the story of Burke and Wills. We visit the "Dig Tree" and other sites of their ill-fated expedition. We then travel to Tibooburra, the most remote town in New South Wales and on to the opal-mining town of White Cliffs. Then Via Wilcannia to Broken Hill to see the mining town rediscovered as a tourist destination. Further south – still following the footsteps of Burke and Wills we visit Medindee on our way to Lake Mungo. Here we see a fascinating combination of early settlement and ancient Aboriginal culture. We spend our last night at Wentworth, the junction of two of Australia’s greatest rivers, the Murray and the Darling.

The Oodnadatta Track Nine Day Tour – OOT07

This nine day tour visits the far north of South Australia, following the Old Ghan Railway from Hawker to Pedirka on the edge of the Simpson Desert. We pass many now deserted railway sidings such as Curdimurka and William Creek on our way to Oodnadatta. On a day trip to Dalhousie Springs you will be able to swim in the luxuriously warm water and see the ruins of a once grand but very remote homestead. We return to Oodnadatta for another night before travelling to the Stuart Highway and on to the remote opal-mining town of Mintabie. We pass through the amazing Painted Desert on our way to Coober Pedy, and then further south for our last night at the well-known "Spud’s Roadhouse". We return to Adelaide via Port Augusta.

Kangaroo Island Four Day Tour – OOT04

Travel overseas with us to this award-winning wilderness destination. We travel via the Sealink Ferry to Penneshaw and stay three nights at the Ozone, Kingscote. We visit Seal Bay, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and more. See koalas, fairy penguins and echidnas. Visit Island Pure Sheep Dairy, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery and Clifford’s Honey Farm.

Mildura and Lake Mungo Five Day Tour – OOT05

On this tour we visit the original irrigation scheme established by the Chaffey brothers in 1887 near the junction of two of Australia’s mighty rivers – the Murray and the Darling. Enjoy three nights at the Two Rivers Motel and dinner at the Wentworth Club. Experience a cruise on a paddleboat the "Rothbury" and lunch at Gol Gol Hotel. An overnight trip to Lake Mungo takes us back 20,000 years to one of the oldest Aboriginal sites. Take some less travelled back roads through the Riverland on our return to Adelaide.

The Best of the Flinders Ranges Four Day Tour – OOT10

This four day tour of the magnificent Flinders Ranges takes you to all of the best spots. Travel through ageless gorges, visit towns of the past and see rare Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies in their natural habitat. The devastation of the widespread drought of the 1860s is evident in the many ruins dotting the countryside. Hear about the Old Ghan Railway and the Overland Telegraph. We make our base at the comfortable Outback Motel, Hawker where we enjoy home cooking and good old fashioned hospitality.

The Gawler Ranges Four Day Tour – OOT02

We travel via Port Augusta and Iron Knob to Mt Ive Station where we stay for the first two nights. It’s a working sheep station nestled in the Gawler Ranges near Lake Gairdner. Enjoy the ancient volcanic landscape and the serene beauty of Lake Gairdner. A lakeside camp oven dinner is a real bush treat. Travel home via the great wheat country around Buckleboo, spending our last night at Kimba.

The Flinders Ranges Special Three Day Tour – OOT11

This three day tour is designed for those with limited time who want a taste of the Flinders. Stay at the Wilpena Pound Resort for two nights and enjoy a whole day tour of the spectacular gorges. Travel through a ‘Corridor of Time’ as we discover the Brachina Gorge, also home to the endangered Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies. Take a scenic flight over the area.

The Flinders Ranges and Arkaroola Five Day Tour – OOT03

We travel through the mid-north towns of Jamestown and Orroroo on our way to Hawker for the first two nights of our tour. While here we visit the spectacular Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges. Travelling to Arkaroola we visit Beltana – ‘the town that won’t die’ once the home of the Elder Smith Pastoral empire and Rev John Flynn. At Arkaroola we join the breathtaking Ridgetop Tour to Sillers Lookout. On our return trip we stay at Wilpena Pound Resort where we have the opportunity to take a scenic flight over the area.
