Morpeth Heritage Walk

To introduce visitors to the historic past of Morpeth, Hunter River Country Tourism has developed the Morpeth Heritage Walk. The walk takes the visitor around all parts of the Morpeth area including the main commercial district, the cultural centre, the residential streets and the home from where Lt. Close first planned and established the burgeoning township. As you walk down the street be aware of the original sandstone gutters, the various hitching posts, horsetrough, mile posts, verandah post bases and copies of the original gas street lamps. Morpeth’s history is rich as it is on both the Registers of the National Trust and the National Estate. Enjoy your walk.
