Sample Day Tour

The Honeyeater Migration through the Blue Mountains

Magnificent hardly comes close to describing the Blue Mountains with its sheer escarpments, tiny moss covered grottos and delightfully unique mountain plants. Discover the birds and their habits, the plants that only grow in this area and of course enjoy the amazing views and the geological features that make the mountains so special. At this time of the year the migratory honeyeaters pass through the mountains providing unusual sightings for the area, there is also a possibility of seeing the beautiful Glossy Black Cockatoo if we are very lucky.

Please note; One of the paths we may walk on the day is graded easy to moderate with some steps and uneven in places on an unformed path. If you have any concerns please phone and talk to us on 9973 1865.

Sample Extended Tour

Adelaide – Eyre Peninsula – Adelaide

Visit the magnificent estuary of Coffin Bay with its grand expanse of rambling channels & waterways and startlingly beautiful bay looking for Rock Parrots, Ospreys, Hooded Plovers & other heathland & sea coast birds. Winter is the time this country is at its glorious best with many birds moving in from the islands to the mainland.

The Arid Lands Botanic Garden is a birdwatcher’s delight. From walking trails through the garden we may see the Rufous Fieldwren, Chirruping Wedgebill, White-winged Fairy-wren and White-fronted Honeyeater. We will visit the spectacular Lincoln National Park & include a daylight start at Taylors Beach looking for Mallee Whipbirds

On Kangaroo Island there are 251 recorded bird species or sub-species, including the only South Australian population of the nationally endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo. The Island’s lagoons also offer good birdwatching, while the dramatic coastal areas are home to an array of waterfowl.

Sample Weekend Tour

Traditional Capertee Valley Weekend.

The new spot for a traditional weekend is at Carol Probets property.

Set to the backdrop of soaring sandstone cliffs is the picturesque Capertee Valley, which, with its eucalypt forests and woodlands provides a haven for birds. The valley itself is unique and contains some unusual rock formations, one being the truly spectacular Pantoneys Crown, a huge mesa at the entrance to the Capertee Valley. As well, you have the pagoda rock formations for which the Gardens of Stone National Park is famous.

The Capertee Valley is renown as probably the best place in Australia to find the endangered Regent Honeyeaters, Turquoise Parrots and Plum-headed Finches. Some of the birds we will be looking for over the weekend include the Brown Treecreeper, the Plum-headed Finch, White-browed and Grey-crowned Babbler, the Hooded Robin, Diamond Firetail, Choughs and the Yellow-tufted Honeyeater.
