Willie Creek Pearl Farm

Located 38 kilometres north of Broome, The Willie Creek Pearl Farm is perfectly situated on the protected tidal estuary of Willie Creek. A natural harbour, the warm azure waters of the creek provide a perfect growing environment for the Pinctada maxima oyster and produces world renowned South Sea Pearls.

The only pearl farm in the Kimberley offering tours to the public, visitors can learn first hand about the pearling industry in Western Australia and how South Sea Pearls are grown. It’s a fascinating excursion and one of Broome’s most popular attractions.

Visitors learn how technician’s seed a live oyster to produce a pearl whilst cruising the beautiful waters of Willie Creek. The tour concludes with visitors being presented with a treasure trove of pearl jewellery to purchase or simply admire… or just sit back and relax in our cafe overlooking the stunning waters of Willie Creek (opening 2006).

Self Drive Tours

You can choose to drive yourself to Willie Creek Pearl Farm and join a fully guided tour group upon arrival. The Pearl Farm is only open to the public at guided tour times, however, and we ask that you phone ahead to confirm your place on a tour.

If you are unfamiliar with Broome tides, check with the Tourist Bureau before embarking on your drive. Roads to Willie Creek can be cut in big tides or wet season weather. Please do not disregard this warning for your own safety. If you are unsure, book the coach tour.
