Frankland Islands Cruise and Dive

The Great Barrier Reef – one of the natural wonders of the world, and Frankland Islands Cruise and Dive can help you experience its greatness like no one else.

Frankland Islands Cruise and Dive operates a sleek 24-metre, AUD 1.4 million catamaran to this tropical paradise daily. As they are the only commercial operator visiting Normanby Island and the Frankland Islands group, rest assured that your day is an intimate affair shared with only a select few.

The day begins with a leisurely cruise down the magnificent Mulgrave River. Learn about the area’s unique flora and fauna while taking in the beauty of the surrounding rainforest clad hills. At the mouth of the river, the Frankland Islands slowly come into view and it is only a short open water crossing to our destination for the day.

Frankland Islands is a snorkeller’s dream. Drift over an amazing variety of corals and marine life, including fish, sea turtles and octopus that inhabit the area. For the less intrepid, the guided snorkelling tour, which is included in your fare, offers a chance to discover and interact with the reef under the guidance of the marine naturalists. Equipment is provided as is the tuition to get you comfortably using your mask, fins and snorkels. For those wishing to discover an underwater world without getting wet, glass bottom boat and semi-submersible tours run at intervals, as well as an informative and interactive guided island walk; look in the rock pools- you may find a starfish or a rare sea urchin!

The sumptuous barbecue lunch is also a highlight. Dine on the island, featuring innovative cuisine using native ingredients. A glass of chilled white wine compliments what is one of the best lunches you’ll have in Australia.

Introductory and certified diving is also available.
