A Off The Track Outback Tours

A Off The Track Outback Tours will take you on a remote outback four, five, seven or ten day four wheel drive tour. We specialise in small groups of four people visiting the Far North and remote cattle stations with great scenery and wildlife.

Alice Springs and Ayers Rock 10 Day Tour – OTT03

Come and enjoy a 10 day tour of Alice Springs and Ayers rock, visit the Flinders Ranges, Blinman, Copley, Leigh Creek, Flying Doctor Service, John Flynn’s grave, Wallace waterhole, Hermanburg Mission, Kings Canyon, Finke, Marree, Oodnadatta, Eringa Station, Anna Creek Station, William Creek, Kulgera, Coober Pedy, Port Augusta and Port Germein.

. Day One – We leave Adelaide at approximately 0730 and travel through the Clare Valley wine district – Gladstone, Melrose, Hawker (the gateway to the Flinders Ranges). Visit Wilpena Pound, Blinman, Parachilna and old Ghan Railway siding. We stay overnight in the town of Copley were we stay in cabin accommodation.

. Day Two – A short trip to Leigh Creek where we see an old open cut coal mine, onto Lyndhurst (this is where we leave bitumen roads), then onto Farina ghost town where the cameleers stopped before taking the mail and supplies onto Coopers Creek on the Birdsville Track. We travel onto Marree the gateway to the remote outback and the beginning of the famous Birdsville Track and Oodnadatta Track. On our way to William Creek we will stop at Curdimurka a old Ghan railway siding, Lake Eyre South and the fascinating Mound Springs, stop overnight at William Creek and have a drink in a real old outback pub. Camp out (facilities available).

. Day Three – Leaving William Creek we visit Anna Creek Station, the largest cattle station in the world. Then onto Angabukna Bridge the largest man-made bridge in South Australia and Angabukna waterhole where you will see an abundance of birdlife. Pushing onto Oodnadatta we stop at the famous Pink Roadhouse where we can stop for a cup of tea or coffee and admire some of their artifacts, leaving Oodnadatta we travel north through Mount Sara and Hamilton Cattle Station, stop at Eringa (Sir Sydney Kidman’s first station) and see the ruins of the old homestead and cattle yard. You will see how tuff it must have been for our first pioneers. Travelling across the South Australian border into the Northern Territory we pass by new Crown Cattle Station and onto Finke (an Aboriginal settlement) and bush camping overnight. On the way to Kulgera, camp fire, Billy tea and damper is on the menu.

. Day Four – This morning we visit the landmark of the centre of Australia (if you could sit Australia on a pin it would balance). We continue up the Highway to Erl Dunda and Alice Springs. Visit the Telegraph Station (first communication from Australia to London), the Flying Doctor Service and the grave of John Flynn the pioneer of the Flying Doctor Service. Do a little shopping if you wish (cabin accommodation).

. Day Five – We stay in Alice and visit the School of the Air (see how the children of the remote outback do their schooling), see the local sites, go shopping or just relax by the pool (cabin accommodation).

. Day Six – Today we travel to Wallace waterhole and see some Aboriginal art rock paintings and sacred sites. After a cup of tea or coffee we move onto Hermansburg Aboriginal Mission, Kings Canyon and then Ayers Rock. View the breathtaking sunset (cabin accommodation).

. Day Seven – This morning we visit the Olgas another marvel of the outback, also see rock paintings, waterholes, sacred sites and listen to the dreamtime stories. At Ayers Rock purchase souvenirs if you wish. Air flights over the Olgas, Ayers Rock and more are available at your own cost (cabin accommodation).

. Day Eight – After breakfast we leave this wonderful part of Australia and head towards the South Australian border, stop at Kulgera for lunch then heading along the Stuart Highway we stop at Marla, visit the Breakaways at Coober Pedy, a geological marvel and tour of the underground mine and housing. Tonight we stay in underground motel accommodation.

. Day Nine – Leaving Coober Pedy we travel to Glenadambo and see a few places of interest. Arrive at Port Augusta, we visit Wadlata Outback Centre and see how communication worked in the remote outback (peddle radio) and the routes of the first explorers – this tour is a must (cabin accommodation).

. Day 10 – We leave Port Augusta and call into Port Germein and see the largest timber jetty in Australia. This is a very sad day as it is our last day of our tour. We sincerely hope you enjoyed the 10 days and hope to see you again. We return you to your accommodation at approximately 1400.

Remote Outback 5 Day Tour – OTT01

A Off The Track Outback Tours will take you on a remote outback five day, four wheel drive tour. Highlights include the Flying Doctor Service, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Lake Eyre, William Creek, Oodnadatta, Coober Pedy, Glendambo, Port Augusta, remote cattle stations and much more.

. Day One – We depart from Adelaide at approximately 0800 before travelling north to Port Augusta via Port Wakefield, Port Pirie and Port Germein. While in Port Augusta we visit the Flying Doctor Base and see how it is a lifeline to the remote outback, we also visit Wadlata Outback Centre and listen to the Aboriginal dreamtime stories and follow the paths of our first explorers. Still heading north we stop at Woomera and visit Rocket Park. This is where rocket experiments were carried out in the late 1950s (cabin accommodation).

. Day Two – After breakfast we travel to Roxby Downs mining town where we view a film of the working of the mine (this is amazing), have a cup of tea or coffee in the mall and a chat with the locals. We then travel up the Borefield Track towards William Creek, calling into the old Ghan Railway siding, Curdimurka and Mound Springs which are outback marvels. After dinner we can go and have a drink in an old unique outback pub. Camp out (accommodation available at own cost).

. Day Three – This morning we visit Anna Creek, the largest cattle station in the world, then onto Algebuckina Bridge and waterhole where we will see an abundance of birdlife. Pushing on to Oodnadatta we visit the famous Pink Roadhouse and view their collection of artifacts. Camp out tents available.

. Day Four – Today we stop and view the magnificent Painted Desert and other marvels of the outback. After lunch we push onto Coober Pedy and to our underground motel arriving at approximately 1430. After a cup of tea or coffee we visit an opal mine and see how it all works and also an underground home, this is unique.

. Day Five – This morning we have a 0700 start, sadly leaving Coober Pedy behind. Visiting Glendambo and other places of interest en route. We arrive in Adelaide at approximately 1800. This is a sad time as its time to say goodbye. We hope you enjoyed your time with us and hope to see you again soon.

Remote Outback 4 Day Tour – OTT02

A Off The Track Outback Tours will take you on a remote outback four day, four wheel drive vehicle tour. Highlights include the Flying Doctor Service, Hawker, Flinders Ranges, Blinman, Copley view Aboriginal cave paintings, Leigh Creek the coal mining town, Farina, Marree, Lake Torrens, Andamooka Sheep and Cattle Station. Overnight camping and Roxby Downs, Port Augusta, Wadlata Outback Centre and much more.

. Day One – Leave Gawler at approximately 0800 travelling through the Clare Valley wine district to Gladstone, Melrose and Hawker, the gateway to the Flinders Ranges. We stop at Wilpena Pound, Blinman and view some of South Australia’s most beautiful scenery. We visit Parachilna an old Ghan siding then onto Copley where we will camp the night under the stars. If you wish, tents and facilities are available.

. Day Two – After breakfast we leave the Flinders behind us, visit Leigh Creek and an old open cut coal mine. Travelling onto Lyndhurst we leave the bitumen road heading onto Farina, an old ghost town where the cameleers travelled from and to Cooper’s Creek on the Birdsville Track with the mail and other supplies. The next town is Marree, visit an old Afghan Hut, view Aboriginal artifacts and the beginning of the famous Birdsville and Oodnadatta Tracks. After a short stay we travel back to Farina, which is also a sheep and cattle station. We pass through Witchalina and Mulgaria Stations crossing the top of Lake Torrens to Andamooka opal fields. Camp out, Billy tea and damper is on the menu (shower available at Marree).

. Day Three – Today, we look around Andamooka then move onto Roxby Downs, a uranium and copper mining town. Here we can have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat with the locals. If time permits we can view a film on the working of the mine (this is amazing). We then travel back to Woomera and visit Rocket Park and stay overnight (facilities available).

. Day Four – This morning we travel down to Port Augusta visiting Wadlata Outback Centre. Listen to Aboriginal dreamtime stories and follow the paths of our first explorers. Call into Port Germein and see the largest timber jetty in Australia. We return to Gawler at approximately 1500.

Barossa Day Tour and Lindsay Park Stud – OTT05

Enjoy a one day tour of the Barossa Valley including an exclusive one hour tour of Lindsay Park Stud and training complex.

. Leaving Gawler at 0930 we travel a few kilometers to Williamstown where we visit the Whispering Wall. The wall is 150 metres long and the acoustics will amaze you, we stop here for morning tea.

. We travel onto the sleepy little town called Springton where the Herbig family were raised in a tree house. Then onto the exciting, world renowned, Lindsay Park Horse Stud and Training Complex (exclusive to this tour) for a two hour tour and see how one man and a horse created this empire 50 years ago.

. While in Angaston we visit Angas Park Fruit, the largest dried fruit company in Australia. Then travel a short distance to Saltram Winery and sample some of the Barossa’s finest wines. On the way to Bethany (the oldest German settlement in the Barossa) we stop off at Menglers Hill for a breathtaking view of the valley, before returning to Adelaide.

Remote Outback 7 Day Tour – OTT06

A Off The Track Outback Tours will take you on a remote outback seven day, four wheel drive vehicle tour. Highlights include Port Augusta, Wadlata Outback Interpretive Centre, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Oodnadatta Track, Lake Eyre South, Curdimurka, Mound Springs, William Creek, Anna Creek Station Algebuckinga, Dalhousie Hot Thermal Springs, Marla, Mintabie, Glendambo and remote cattle stations.

. Day One – We depart from Adelaide at approximately 0800 before travelling north to Port Augusta via Port Wakefield, Port Pirie and Port Germein. After lunch we head for Dalhousie hot spring, which is fed from the Artesian Basin. Bring your swimsuit (bathers), this water is said to be over one million years old (we camp out on the way. Damper and Billy tea are on the menu.

. Day Four – This morning we arrive at Dalhousie Springs. Have a swim if you wish, relax and admire the beauty and wildlife this area has to offer. After morning tea we head back to Oodnadatta and onto the Pained Desert. This is one of the marvels of the outback. Camp out (another beautiful campfire).

. Day Five – Today we arrive in Coober Pedy at approximately 1100 and book into our underground accommodation. This is also a wonderful experience. Here you can purchase opals and souvenirs if you wish. We then go on a tour of an opal mine and a underground house, and then look at other tour attractions around the town.

. Day Six – After breakfast we bid farewell to Coober Pedy and head for Port Augusta stopping at Glendambo and other places of interest. We arrive at Port Augusta at about 1600. Barbecue tea (cabin accommodation).

. Day Seven – After another hearty cooked breakfast we continue south to Adelaide arriving back in Adelaide at approximately 1430. This is a sad time because it is the end of our tour and we sincerely hope you enjoyed your time with us and hope to see you again soon.
