Kangaroo Island with German Spoken Guide – PTMT6

Spend three days touring Kangaroo Island, see its unique natural attractions and wildlife with Petra’s Tailor Made Tours who specialise in German speaking, small group tours of South Australia with personalised itinerary to suit your needs.

. Day One – After arriving in Kingscote we travel in an air conditioned and comfortable four wheel drive vehicle with our first stop on Kangaroo Island being Seal Bay Conservation Park. Here you will experience a unique encounter with an Australian Sea Lion Colony. Along the way we enjoy a gourmet lunch, then we visit Clifford’s Honey Farm and invite you on an informative honey tasting tour. Bee breeding on Kangaroo Island started in 1885 and the original bees came from Liguria in Italy. Due to the isolation from mainland Australia, the strict control of bee products and equipment being brought to the Island, the Ligurian bees are disease free and the only pure bred Ligurian bee remaining in the world. Another unique feature of Kangaroo Island is the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery. This is the only distillery still operating in South Australia. You will be surprised by the unique look and by the simple methods of producing the oil. From here we make our way to Kingscote, South Australia’s first settlement and at the wharf we experience the feeding of the Australian Pelican. Tonight we will enjoy a three course dinner in Penneshaw. Penneshaw is also home to the Fairy Penguins and we take a guided walk to watch these cute little creatures returning to their burrows after a busy day fishing at sea. Overnight accommodation at a Bed and Breakfast. Includes lunch and dinner.

. Day Two – Our first stop this morning will be the spectacular sand dunes of Little Sahara. These sand dunes are totally surrounded by native Australian bush and provide a spectacular view and are fun to explore. Then we travel to Koala Avenue where we have the opportunity to observe one of Australia’s icons the Koala. We will be able to see them in their habitat and natural environment. Then lunch will be a barbecue. A trip to Kangaroo Island is not complete without a visit to Flinders Chase National Park and this is one of the biggest national parks in Australia with 74,000 hectares of pure beauty. Admiral’s Arch is the home of the New Zealand fur seals and a group of weather formed granite rocks, known as Remarkable Rocks are a highlight. We enjoy another night on Kangaroo Island and a three course dinner. Overnight accommodation at a Bed and Breakfast. Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

. Day Three – After breakfast we spend the morning at Emu Bay and walk along this beautiful beach. Along the way lunch is provided. The remainder of the day we take you along the north coast which has its own special character. One of the attractions is Stokes Bay which has a beautiful hidden beach which can only be explored through a rock tunnel. Our next stop will be Island Pure Sheep Dairy where you have the opportunity to watch milking of the sheep as well as tasting the variety of sheep cheeses and sheep yoghurt that are produced at this dairy. Before we leave Kangaroo Island we take the opportunity to watch some of Kangaroo Island’s birds at Duck Lagoon. Returning approximately 1900. Includes breakfast and lunch.

Flinders Ranges with German Spoken Guide – PTMT7

Spend three days touring Flinders Ranges in a comfortable, air conditioned four wheel drive vehicle with Petra’s Tailor Made Tours who specialise in German speaking, small group tours of South Australia with personalised itinerary to suit your needs.

. Day One – After being picked up at approximately 0730 from your accommodation we travel through Adelaide’s northern suburbs to the Clare Valley, which is one of Australia’s best known wine regions – for wine tasting. Here we visit the oldest winery Sevenhill for wine tasting. Sevenhill was founded by Austrian Jesuit Monks in 1851. A picnic lunch will be provided along the way. We continue further into the South Australian Grain Mecca past huge grain fields to the picturesque little township of Melrose, situated at the foothills of Mount Remarkable. We will explore the main attraction of Mount Remarkable National Park, walking through Alligator Gorge and be amazed by its beauty. Then on through Quorn and Hawker, the last settlements before reaching the South Australian Outback and our destination for the evening is Wilpena Pound Resort. Here we will enjoy a delicious three course dinner. Overnight accommodation in a Bed and Breakfast. Includes lunch and dinner.

. Day Two – Following breakfast we visit the heart of the Flinders Ranges National Park, 100,000 hectares provide a wide range of attractions. One of the most important features is Brachina Gorge Geological Trail and being an 11 kilometres trail, this explains the development of Australia from 640 million years ago until 520 million years ago by the various colours in the rock layers. Later we show you the Aroona Valley which leads us along the amazing Heysen Ranges and the Heysen Trail. The Heysen Trail starts in Cape Jervis at the most southern point of Fleurieu Peninsula and ends in Parachilna Gorge. It is over 1,500 kilometres – one of the longest foot paths in the world. Both are named after South Australia’s well known artist Sir Hans Heysen, born in Hamburg and emigrated to South Australia with his family at the age of six. Along the way we enjoy a picnic lunch but, a trip to the Flinders Ranges is not complete without a visit to the township of Parachilna. You will be surprised by the hospitality and the charm that this tiny town and the Prairie Hotel offers you. Overnight accommodation at Wilpena Pound Resort. Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

. Day Three – After breakfast on our final day we walk along Wilpena Creek, the only opening of the huge pound surrounded by the mountain ranges which form Wilpena Pound. We have an excellent view of the Pound and appreciate the size better from the Wilpena Pound Lookout. Along the way lunch will be provided. Following our visit to Hawker we stop at Yourambulla Caves and see not only Aboriginal drawings but also an amazing view of the Outback landscape which appears to be endless. On our return we stop at Mambray Creek National Park for afternoon tea and hopefully we will be joined by Australian native birds and animals. Return to Adelaide accommodation at approximately 1900. Includes breakfast and lunch.
