Proud Mary 2 Night Midweek Cruise – PAH01

Just 45 minutes from Adelaide in the heart of the Murraylands, the Captain and crew of the boutique passenger vessel Proud Mary look forward to welcoming you aboard for a two night Proud Australia nature cruise.

. Day One – Sunday – Join Proud Mary at 2000. Having settled into your river view cabin, enjoy a drink before dinner as Proud Mary cruises to her overnight mooring point. As you cruise, Proud Mary’s powerful floodlights illuminate the shore. It is a perfect opportunity to view the nocturnal animals of Australia in their natural habitat. Later we tie up for the night of peace and tranquillity in the Australian bush. Overnight Proud Mary.

. Day Two – Monday – Your cruise continues upstream as you breakfast on a delicious buffet. You will pass huge lagoons teeming with birdlife. During floods these inland lagoons were so immense that in the early riverboat days Captains could not find the true channels. Today the willows provide the perfect haven for the prolific and colourful birdlife. Mid morning Proud Mary arrives in picturesque Mannum, the birthplace of Australia’s riverboat trade. Here you will board the waiting coach for a history tour of this small township, which played a significant role in the development of South Australia. On tour we will retrace the colourful history of several pioneering families and visit the 103 year old paddle steamer, the Marion. Lunch will be served aboard Proud Mary as you cruise upstream to Walker Flat. This evening is ‘Australiana night’ featuring typically Australian dishes. Overnight Proud Mary.

. Day Three – Tuesday – After breakfast Proud Mary cruises further upstream. Mid morning arrive at Swan Reach and board your waiting coach for a tour to visit Murray Aquaculture, one of the most ambitious aquaculture projects undertaken in Australia. The fresh water crustacean is uniquely Australian and is only one of many species of crayfish found in Australia. With a local guide passengers are taken through the complex covering 10,000 square metres of ponds, nurseries and an interpretive information centre. On board, passengers have the opportunity to sample Murray Aquaculture fresh water crustaceans. Late afternoon Proud Mary arrives at Blanchetown, site of the first lock on the River Murray. Early evening disembark Proud Mary and board your waiting coach for your transfer to Adelaide.

Proud Mary 3 Night Midweek Cruise – PAH02

See towering River Red gums and stunning scenery as you cruise along the mighty River Murray on an all inclusive three night Proud Australia nature cruise.

. Day One – Tuesday – Passengers travelling on the three night midweek cruise join Proud Mary at Blanchetown at 1930. Settle into your riverview accommodation and then enjoy dinner as we cruise this evening to Moorundie Creek, named after the Aboriginal tribe that lived there. Proud Mary moors overnight on a beautiful beach amongst towering River Red gums. Overnight Proud Mary.

. Day Two – Wednesday – You will wake today in one of the most unspoilt and picturesque areas of the River Murray. Take an environmental discovery walk of Moorundie Creek, even today you will see evidence of an ancient Aboriginal civilisation – a huge canoe tree still stands. As you cruise downstream, you will pass magnificent lagoons teeming with birdlife, majestic cliffs reaching for the sky and spectacular scenery. This afternoon join our ecologist aboard a flat bottom punt boat for a cruise through the lagoons and inlets to view the bird and wildlife at close range. This evening there is a traditional Australian barbecue on shore followed by live Aussie entertainment around a blazing campfire. Overnight Proud Mary.

Day Three – Thursday – This morning you will have an early departure for Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal conservation area where you will be met by a local Aboriginal guide and shown over Australia’s first Aboriginal archaeological digs. As you continue cruising this afternoon there will be time to relax before an afternoon arrival in Mannum. Here you will have time to explore before cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are served prior to the sumptuous five course Captain’s dinner. Overnight Proud Mary.

. Day Four – Friday – This morning you will be collected from Proud Mary by coach for a tour to Reedy Creek Environmental Park. As well as natural rock shelters, the area offered permanent water and an abundance of wild game for hunting. Your guide will provide information enabling you to identify significant rock formations and the abundant native vegetation and birdlife. Lunch today is a superb buffet prepared with fresh local produce as you cruise further downstream through more spectacular scenery and the final leg of your journey. Disembark Proud Mary at 1600 in Murray Bridge and transfer to Adelaide by coach.

. Directions to Woodlane Reserve:
. Located 10 kilometres from Mannum. From Murray Bridge turn left onto Mannum Road, follow signs to Woodlane Reserve. Take right hand turn to Mypolonga and continue along following signs, take a right hand turn onto gravel road and travel 400 metres along road to car park and Woodlane Reserve.

. Day One – Friday – Join Proud Mary at 2000. Having settled into your river view cabin, enjoy drinks before a delicious supper as Proud Mary cruises to her overnight mooring point and your Captain introduces his crew. As you cruise, Proud Mary’s powerful floodlights illuminate the shore. This is an opportunity to see the river environment in a different perspective and may allow for a view of some of the nocturnal wildlife, especially birds such as night herons, owls and coots. Later, Proud Mary ties up for the night of peace and tranquillity in the Australian bush. Overnight Proud Mary.

. Day Two – Saturday – Breakfast heartily whilst cruising this morning. Proud Mary continues upstream today through some of the most spectacular scenery on the entire River Murray system. The inland lagoons are so immense that in the early riverboat days, Captains could not find true channels. In the early 1900’s riverboat Captains planted willow trees along the banks to clearly mark the main river channel. Today the willows provide the perfect haven for the prolific and colourful birdlife. The Proud Mary berths in Mannum allowing time for a stroll through this very historic town. Here you will also enjoy a guided cruise led by an ecologist aboard a small boat through the lagoons and inlets of the River Murray – a highlight of your journey. There are some 320 species of birdlife in this area and with the aid of binoculars and your well informed guide you will study at close range the prolific birdlife. Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the Proud Mary chefs as you cruise upstream. Late afternoon your vessel ties alongside the towering cliffs and beautiful sandy beach.
