Nindigully Pub Queensland Australia

Nindigilly Pub is Queensland’s oldest hotel located in its original condition and position on the banks of the Moonie River. The license was issued in 1864 after operating as shearer’s accommodation for the Nindigully Station.

The Gully, as it’s affectionately known, brewed its own beer and spirits before XXXX and Bundaberg Rum even existed. Today the boom town of approximately 50 people and 15 houses of the early 1900s have been reduced to two houses, the pub, the old General Store and the Town Hall with a population of six!

The Gully is a must see for Australian history buffs as you can feel it all around you from the original buildings to the traditional farming lands.

The Moonie River could be considered to be one of the heads of the Darling River system. They are lucky to have an old timber weir out front of the pub which gives them a permanent water (and fish) supply. The bridge in front of the pub was once used by Cobb and Co Coaches to bring people and hoses to the pub to water and feed.

All owners have tried to keep the original air and feel of the pub for all who visit. The walls are adorned with over 140 Akubra hats worn by the locals till past their use by date and loaned to the pub until they need them in the future.

Right in front of the pub is thousands of hectares of stock route government lands that people can use for their own recreational choices at their risk of course. Camping on the river in front of the pub is free. The pub offers its toilets and truckies showers free to campers.
