Glassford Creek Farmstay, Gladstone

Glassford Creek Farmstay is a 4000 acre working cattle property, hosting guests and providing a realistic genuine outback experience. They provide an all inclusive stay with horse riding a natural feature and plenty of room to move. Situated only 30 minutes off the Bruce Highway, they offer a free daily pickup from the Greyhound/McCafferty’s Service.

Glassford Creek Farmstay is a family owned and run, set on rugged and mountainous bush land. It provides a home for some 400 beef cows, 30 horses, three dogs and one shy cat. Native wildlife includes kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, goannas, dingoes and birds.

A stay at Glassford Creek Farmstay includes all accommodation, food and all activities. They even supply comfortable clothes to wear while on the farm.

With a variety of horses to suit individual experiences, participants undertake actual farm activities such as mustering/tailing cows or riding fence lines. Other activities include milking the cow, feeding the orphan calf, feeding bulls and horses and working cows through the yards.

Meals are taken in the ‘Smoko Shed’, their unique communal dining area, with adjacent camp fire. Breakfast is a continental style and lunch is a selection of cold meats and salads. Dinner is generally varied between roasts, barbecues, corned meat and stews, and traditional bush cooking.

Accommodation is available is in the guest house, offering both double and twin/triple share rooms, with shared bathrooms. A lounge area within the library includes television and DVD facilities. Disabled facilities available.

A beautiful way to end the day, after all the fresh air and exercise is to watch the sun set at Kate’s Summit with a glass of wine or a cold beer. This fantastic vantage point looks out over the Dawes Ranges and gives a great impression of the property and a beautiful view of the setting sun.
