Lakeview Caravan Park, Richmond
The Richmond Lakeview Caravan Park is the clean, friendly outback park with the ‘million dollar view’.
Richmond Lakeview Caravan Park overlooking Lake Fred Tritton caters for tourists travelling the Overlander’s Way. Richmond is situated halfway between Townsville and Mount Isa.
The caravan park caters for the touring public with clean modern amenities including disabled facilities and family bathroom, free barbecue area and drive-through sites as well as a grassed camping area.
The park has a self-contained cabin with two bedrooms and accommodates up to seven people. The park also has eight twin-share, air-conditioned bunkhouses.
The lake has a two kilometre walking track around the circumference. Drop a line in and catch a fish or redclaw. The water park is very popular for the children. The lake facilities include a boat ramp for launching boats and jet skis.
The park is a short stroll to the award-winning Kronosaurus Korner Fossil Museum and Information Centre. The fossil centre is home to more than 400 individual exhibits including Minmi, Australia’s best-preserved dinosaur and the Richmond Pliosaur, a 98 percent complete marine reptile.
If you find you are infected with fossil fever, ask at Kronosaurus Korner for a free fossicking site mud map, and bring your finds back to the resident curator for identification.
Take a night walk around the lake and wonder at the kaleidoscope of stars in the brilliant outback sky.
