Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre, Gunnedah

For an unforgettable rural adventure – complete with line dancing, kangaroos, and even sleeping under the stars – you just can’t beat the Lake Keepit Centre. The Centre is in North West of New South Wales on the foreshores of beautiful Lake Keepit, surrounded by pastoral and timber country. It’s only 40 minutes from Tamworth (Australia’s country music capital), 25 minutes from Gunnedah and just six hours drive from Sydney.

Guest can photograph the biggest sunset, fish for yellowbelly and freshwater cod, or simply hang out with the local kangaroos, wallabies, parrots and pelicans, it offers an excellent balance between relaxation and outdoor recreation.
More adventurous groups can try the new Keepit Country Campout, located less than 2km away on a breathtaking peninsula extending into Lake Keepit.

The Campout includes tents, camp kitchen, toilets, shelters and a campfire amphitheatre for after dark entertainment. You’ll enjoy the some of the best views of Australia’s evening skylines while camping out under the stars. No wonder they call this Big Sky Country!

The Centre’s activities include sailing, canoeing or kayaking on the lake, nature walks, rock climbing, swimming in the Centre’s in-ground pool, and even taking to the skies for a breathtaking flight in a modern two-seater glider.

Where Are Australia's Best Beaches?

Australia's Best Beaches

Australia has miles and miles of shoreline but which beaches are really great? Ultimately it depends on what you're looking for in a beach. Pristine wilderness without a single footprint in sight, the sparkle of cosmopolitan high rise on the waters edge, the adrenalin pumping roar of a powerful surf beach, or quite simply the perfect white squeaky sand that squelches between your toes.
