Benbellen Country Retreat, Hannam Vale

Unique in so many ways, Benbellen is tucked away in a truly, and thankfully, undiscovered valley. Benbellen is a short drive to pristine Pacific beaches and local amenities – luxury fully ensuite accommodation – beautiful views with peaceful and tranquil surrounds.

‘Just off the Pacific Highway, three and a half hours north of Sydney, there is a road that winds inland at Moorland or Johns River where you find yourself all alone on a ‘very different kind of world’.

‘Instantly the pace slackens. This road ducks and weaves through a choppy sea of low rippling hills, diving into dark green tunnels and over rattling wooden bridges threading through paddocks where fat Friesian cows stand munching, attended by white egrets’.

‘This picture is more than matched by the understated elegance of Benbellen Country Retreat high in this secluded coastal valley. It is a sprawling Queenslander style homestead offering luxury, fully ensuite accommodation with style and character. The house is generously proportioned and equipped with a library and a huge lounge room with alcoves along one wall and a big balcony that juts out above the dipping hillside’.

Enjoy this peace and quiet from one of our queen-sized bedrooms each with ensuite bathroom and access to private balconies and extensive views.

‘Sherry and Peter are welcoming and sophisticated hosts, and their house reflects a lifetime of travel, work and an appreciation for the finer things’.

For couples with or without children and pets an alternative accommodation is available nearby with full access to on-farm activities. Penlan ‘is a beauty. A trim Queenslander style weatherboard cottage set low in a valley. Inside there’s a big open lounge dining room kitchen, a luxurious bathroom and a laundry – everything you need for a week end or a week of pure escapism.’

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
