Settlers House York, York

Settlers House, built by the Craig family in about 1845, is nestled in the heart of Historic York, a leisurely and scenic 80 minute drive from Perth the capital city of Western Australia.

Settlers House has been an historic landmark for over 150 years and is now classified by the National Trust.

In 1855, Governor Fitzgerald gave it to John Taylor, a Yeoman from Yangedine, for a yearly rental of one peppercorn.

Between 1875 to 1888 Settlers House was used as a Cobb and Co. staging post during the gold rush days.

Settlers House has been totally refurbished where now the elegance and style of yesteryear are bought back to life with lace table cloths, log fires, cobbled courtyards, lamp lit pathways and country hospitality. Whilst Ensign Dale’s detachment of the 63rd Manchester Regiment had little more than their weekly ration of bread, salt, beef and three quarter pints of rum to tempt the palate, we trust our fully licensed Cocktail Bar and award winning Ensign Dale Restaurant will provide a vastly improved Bill of Fare.

Accommodation in any one of our 20 suites is second to none.

So come along and step back into the relaxed and enchanting age of yesteryear. You know you deserve it.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
