Boonara Homestead is a beautifully restored Grand Colonial home built in 1862 and believed to be the last one of it’s kind in Queensland. It was built by David Jones (of department store fame) for his two sons, David Mander and George Hall Jones.

Located in the undulating landscape of the South Burnett, it is a peaceful oasis that invites relaxation and takes one back to a more gentile time. Enjoy a relaxing glass of wine on the wide expanses of verandah that wrap around the North and East side of the Homestead. Watch the myriad birds that come to feed at the stations located around the gardens. Visit the Historical Boonara Cemetery where the Jones’s are interned. Wander through the vineyard or spend some time in the enclosed South verandah overlooking the creek – take a stroll along Nangur Creek in search of the plentiful water birds.

Boonara offers two very different guestrooms for your pleasure – the Victorian Room, to revisit the time of it’s begin and the Chinese Room, to remember that the Chinese who were instrumental in the running of Boonara Station as shepherds in earliest times.

Make Boonara Homestead your base for exploring the Wine Trails, the beautiful Bunya Mountains and the many places of interest here in Kilkivan Shire. A picnic hamper can be packed for you to take on day trips. There is a Cellar Door located on site for your pleasure. Evening meals are available on request (at additional cost) and are taken in the formal dining room with your host and hostess, Ted and Sandra Nesbitt.
