Lavender Cottage is situated in the heart of Broadway, historic Dunolly’s main street. Just next door is the former London Chartered Bank where the Welcome Stranger nugget was weighed and sold in 1857. Throughout Dunolly you will discover many buildings classified by the National Trust and others full of charm. Metres from your door you will find a licensed supermarket, 2 hotels, cafes, bakery, and many other shops. Try your hand at gold prospecting, cycle the marked bicycle tracks through the State Forest. Lavender Cottage has a VCR with a number of videos for your use, reverse cycle air conditioning and heating, alfresco meals area, and a small library of books. With the addition of a sofa couch in the living room overnight guests or children can be accommodated. Complimentary tea and coffee are provided along with chilled mineral water. The kitchen is fully equipped if you would rather relax and prepare your own meals. Alternatively, you may choose to dine at the excellent Cockatoo Cafe (licensed) or try The Welcome Stranger Cafe, the Royal Hotel dining room or The Railway Hotel. Dunolly is surrounded by towns such as Maryborough, Bendigo, Ballarat, Maldon, Talbot, Clunes, and Avoca, ensuring plenty to see and do. Central Victoria is renowned for its fine wines and restaurants, particularly in The Pyrenees area.
