Fleurette’s House, Second Valley

Fleurette’s House at Second Valley is a gracious 1800’s bluestone villa set in rambling French inspired gardens. Formerly the old schoolmaster’s residence, Fleurette’s offers relaxed, heritage style, self-contained accommodation for up to eight people, perfect for a romantic retreat or a longer family holiday. Beautiful views over the valley and the ocean can be enjoyed from the balcony.

Fleurette’s House provides the perfect retreat at anytime of the year, summer is idyllic. The house, which is in easy reach of the beach, remains cool and airy with its five metre ceilings and spacious living rooms. In winter the house is cosy with all the comforts of open fires, country living and a short stroll from the bottom of the garden to the nearby heritage listed Leonard’s Mill Pub and Restaurant.

There is a large well-appointed country kitchen with a wood burning stove, conventional stove and microwave. All standard cooking utensils are provided. The kitchen has a large 10 to 12 seat Victorian table. Crockery and cutlery are provided for 10.

The living room is equipped with sofas, a television and video and a library of items of interest in addition to board games and art materials.

There are three spacious bedrooms each with an antique bed. Pillows and covered quilts are provided. Guests are asked to provide their own sheets.

There is a spacious verandah overlooking an acre of rambling gardens that descend down to a secluded terrace, hidden amongst century old fig trees, from where ocean views can be enjoyed. There is a large open French inspired courtyard providing ample parking and opportunities for petanque. The courtyard is dominated by a large date palm and is bordered by an extensive herb garden that our guests are encouraged to use.

A large gas fired barbecue and outdoor chairs and a table are located in an entertaining area under a rustic pergola that is increasingly covered by a scarlet and coral bougainvilleas.

Fleurette’s offers affordable luxury, in one of Australia’s most beautiful areas. Children and pets are welcome. Second Valley provides the perfect base for exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula‘s beaches, national parks, wineries, golf courses and restaurants or going diving, horse riding or fishing. Fleurette’s is marvellously relaxing and aromatherapy and massage therapy is available by arrangement.
