Uhuru Chalets, Albany

Torbay is an area of unparalleled beauty and that is where you will find Uhuru Chalets. Torbay has much to offer the visitor, whether it is the grandeur of West Cape Howe National Park with its rugged cliffs and magnificent seascapes or the gentle, almost permanently green pastures where dairy cattle graze peacefully. Once in days gone by a railway stop over between Albany and Denmark, Torbay is now central to the dairying and potato growing industries and, being coastal, has a gentle climate neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter.

Uhuru Chalets cater for visitors seeking peace and serenity, perhaps a chance to get away from it all, to recharge the batteries, to enjoy a local red or white wine or for the more active holiday maker seeking an energetic, action packed holiday.

Peace lovers will enjoy a secluded hideaway in a tranquil bush setting either in our two bedroom chalet or our romantic converted railway wagon designed for a couple. For the energetic there is bush walking close by along our adjoining creek or after a short drive walk the Bibbulmun Track along the coast in either direction for a chance to get really fit.

The Bibbulmun Track crosses West Cape Howe National Park and one loop takes the adventurous walker to the most southerly point of Western Australia. Beautiful beaches provide perfect conditions for swimming, surfing, fishing or sailing. When southerly winds blow intrepid hang gliding and paragliding enthusiasts launch themselves from the cliffs above Shelley Beach and soar overhead with the birds – a sight not to be missed.

Torbay is centrally located on the south coast almost equidistant from Albany and Denmark, so from the peace and seclusion of Uhuru Chalets visitors can explore and savour the experiences the magnificent Great Southern region has to offer.
