Fossil Farm, Mannum

Just one hours drive from Adelaide, overlooking the picturesque Reedy Creek wetland, Fossil Farm cottages provide a rural retreat for lovers of nostalgia, nature and history. Exclusively located on a 130 acre property of undulating mallee country, five kilometres west of the charming, historic riverboat town of Mannum, on the River Murray. Only minutes from the Mannum waterfalls and the Mannum Golf Club. Fossil Farm is an ideal romantic retreat for couples, farm holiday for families or private venue for group travel up to 20 people. Accommodation is offered in three charming turn of the century, stone cottages which capture the nostalgia and romance of their era. Tastefully refurbished with colonial antiques and collectables and also discretely providing the essential modern creature comforts. These cottages are in a farm yard setting with Arabian horses, peacocks, geese, bantams and with an array of native wildlife on the property. Involvement with native fauna care and release, bring various native birds, animals and reptiles to our property from time to time for rehabilitation before release. Our friendly, resident, hand reared orphaned kangaroos provide an excellent opportunity for guests to interact with wildlife and experience and enjoy our lifestyle. Devonshire teas, picnic baskets, dinners and campfire meals are available by prior arrangement. Optional extras also include led pony rides for the kids and campfires for guests staying a minimum of two nights. Walking eco tours are available for guests by arrangement and include options such as the Mannum Waterfalls tour, wetland ecology and mallee ecology. Farm tours include a discussion of the geological and cultural history of the property and our conservation farming initiatives.
