Donkey Camp B and B, Katherine

Donkey Camp B and B is located on Pandanus Farm, a working mango property of 3,000 trees. Guests can take a walk through the orchard and learn about grafting and any other points of interest. Fruit is picked late September and helpers are always welcome. This part of the Katherine River was named Donkey Camp after the many donkeys which were camped there to transport gold across the river. Two pet donkeys are very keen to make friends with any visitors. The large rammed, earth house is situated on 5 acres of lawn and very large old trees with many shady areas to sit and relax.

A taste tempting barbecue of Katherine beef and local salt water barramundi can be prepared for you by your hosts. Donkey Camp is licensed so the opportunity to have an Australian wine with dinner is also available. Quality bird watching tours, bushwalk and camp oven dinner with stories are available by arrangement.

This is the chance to have a truly Australian experience and be close to the Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge), and also be able to drive down to Cutta Cutta Caves, enjoy the hot springs at Mataranka and return to the homestead for outdoor dining and a calm and peaceful nights rest.

Pristine wilderness without a single footprint in sight, the sparkle of cosmopolitan high rise on the waters edge, the adrenalin pumping roar of a powerful surf beach, or quite simply the perfect white squeaky sand that squelches between your toes.
