Forster Main Beach

Forster Main Beach is the northernmost beach right in the heart of town. With a wide sandy shoreline and crystal-clear waters, Forster Main Beach is a sun-seeker’s dream come true. You’ll find all the amenities you need, from the popular beachside Beach Bums Cafe, to an ocean pool known as the Bull Ring, all conveniently located near the majority of Forster’s accommodation.

Pebbly Beach

One of the most popular ways to reach Forster-Tuncurry is by car. The journey offers breathtaking views of the New South Wales coastline, making the drive itself an enjoyable part of your trip.

1. The Lakes Way

If you’re traveling from Sydney, follow the Pacific Highway north until you reach the exit ramp located just north of Bulahdelah. From there, take The Lakes Way, which will lead you on a scenic 59-kilometer journey to Forster. This route typically takes about an hour to complete. Along the way, you’ll pass by stunning natural attractions like Myall Lake, Smiths Lake, Wallis Lake, and charming coastal villages. As you approach Tuncurry, you’ll cross a bridge over the entrance to Wallis Lake, adding an extra 2 kilometers and less than 5 minutes to your trip.

If you’re traveling from the north, you can also take The Lakes Way. From the Pacific Highway exit ramp, it’s a 20-kilometer drive to Tuncurry, which typically takes about 20 minutes. Crossing the bridge over the entrance to Wallis Lake into Forster adds an extra 2 kilometers and less than 5 minutes to your journey.

2. Failford Road

For those coming from the west, such as Gloucester, the Failford Road exit off the Pacific Highway north of Nabiac is your route of choice. The drive from Nabiac to Tuncurry along Failford Road covers 21 kilometers and takes about 20 minutes. If you plan to visit Forster, simply add an extra 2 kilometers and 5 minutes for the bridge crossing.

By Plane

Travelers coming from farther afield can opt for air travel. The nearest public airport to Forster-Tuncurry is Taree Airport. Once you land, it’s a 45-kilometer journey that typically takes about 45 minutes by car to reach your destination in Forster-Tuncurry.
